18th difficult issue
Pulse has 3 sections with four meridians showing accumulation and condensation
18th difficult issue says
Pulse has three sections
Each section has four connections/ meridians
Hand has tae yin and yang ming
Foot has tae yang and shao yin
They are top and bottom sections
Why is that?
Explanation: hand tae yin and yang ming are metal
Foot shao yin and tae yang are water
Metal creates the water
Water flows down the conducts
And not able to move up
It is a reason why it is in the bottom section
Foot jue yin and shao yang are wood
Producing hand tae yang and shao yin which are fire
Fire’s flame rizes to the top conducts
And can’t move down
It is why they are in the top section
Hand heart manages shao yang
Producing foot tae yin and yang ming which are earth
Earth manages central palace
It is why they are in the middle section
All are five movements, son and mother, which create and feed each other
Pulse has 3 sections and nine states/ areas
What each of them manage? explanation
Three sections
Are cun, guan and chi
Nine states are
Superficial, middle and deep
Upper unit is a responsibility of the heaven
It manages diseases of the chest and upper body
Middle section is a responsibility of the man
It manages diseases area below diaphragm till umbilicus
Lower section is a responsibility of the earth
It manages diseases from umbilicus to legs
They should be examined and treated afterwards
Patient may have disease with deep accumulation for long time accumulation and condensation
How to diagnose such diseases studying the pulse
Explanation: when during observation disease is on the right side of the body where qi gathers
There will be knotted pulse of lung
Pulse is more knotted due to more stagnation of accumulation and condensation
Less knotted due to less qi stagnation
When during the examination there is no lung pulse
But there is a stagnation of qi on the right side of the body?
Explanation: despite lung pulse is not observed
There is a deep hiding pulse on the right hand
External signs of chronic diseases are the same?
Or different?
Explanation: nodded pulse
Pulse arrives loosing one pulsation
Not constantly, not periodically
It is called knotted
Concealed, hidden pulse
Fulse moves deep under the tendons
Superficial pulse
Pulse movements are situated over the muscle
Left right superficial deep
Their rules
Let’s assume pulse is knotted and concealed
Not accumulation inside
Pulse superficial and knotted
There is not chronic disease on surface
There are accumulations and compression pulse is not knotted or concealed
There is chronic disease so pulse is not superficial and knotted
If pulse doesn’t match/ correspond disease
Disease doesn’t match/ correspond the pulse
So it is a lethal disease
This difficulty is linked to the difficulty 5 explaining locations of meridians on the wrist for diagnosis.
It also is linked to the difficulty 21, 15, 16, 17 showing differentiation between external signs of disease and pulse, indicating pulse as primary diagnostic tool
