Cloudy 陰 and Sunny 陽 Hill
Steps up the hill during the cloudy weather 陰 is the yin, steps up the hill during the sunny 陽 is the yang
Here we can see as original observer could see the movement of yin (cloudy) and yang (sunny) or shadow of the cloud over the hill
Once the shadow of cloud is coming to the bottom of the sunny hill yang is maximum, yin is minimum.
From the bottom of the hill shadow is climbing up to the hill, yang is decreasing, yin is increasing.
Shadow is covering the the hill, sun comes to the bottom, yin is maximum, yang is minimum.
Light of the sun starts climbing up to the hill from the bottom, yin is decreasing, yang is increasing.
It is a perfect example of fifty yin-yang exchanges during the day as we can observe with acupuncture pulse diagnosis with yin yang not only exchanging their places but showing its increase and decrease. Here is the reason why ancient Chinese used yin character made with two graphems: steps up the hill and covering cloud; and yang character made with graphems: steps up the hill and shining sun.
Practitioner puncturing yang meridian according to the movement of Qi 氣 (made of two graphems steam rising as the cloud and grains) during the yang increasing just lets natural yang increasing force to fulfill deficient yang meridian. Practitioner puncturing yang meridian according to the movement of Qi during yang decreasing just lets natural yang decreasing force empty excessive yang meridian. Same with the yin. There is no stimulation or sedation, only following of natural force with immediate response of the pulse according to the first difficulty of NanJing.
Observe the clouds and sun,
Know through the pulse how to follow and use the force which moves them
And have instant response.
